Wind fencing to restore dunes workshop is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
This workshop will demonstrate how the eroded foredune on this section of Woolgoolga Main Beach can be reformed by catching and holding the sand that is blown along the beach.

CHRL staff will conduct the workshop using a method developed by Soil Conservation Officer Peter Corlis using natural materials which will decompose over time.

We will build simple wind fences constructed of low cost biodegradable materials to trap sand blown by prevailing winds and restore the profile of the foredune.

Like many local beaches, Woolgoolga Main Beach has seen quite severe dune erosion in recent years from weather and wave action which has resulted in coastal trees falling onto the beach.

This hands on demonstration day is funded through Coffs Harbour City Council’s Environmental Levy Program.
