SUMMARY:Simple Site Photo-Monitoring Techniques
DESCRIPTION:Photo monitoring for Landcare sites. \nPictures can speak a thousand words! \nStrategic and consistent photo monitoring can not only show immediate before and after progress on a site\, but can also help us determine long term impacts of our regeneration work which in turn builds our understanding of effective land management techniques. \nOn this workshop\, facilitated by ecologist and Landcare Site Coordinator\, Graham Tupper\, we’ll learn how to use photo points to monitor and record changes on our Landcare sites over time. \n  \nPlease wear appropriate clothing for this outdoor workshop\, as we’ll be walking through the bush\, and don’t forget to bring your charged phone/camera. \nLight refreshments will be provided. \n**Advance registration is required. SUMMARY:Tools for Citizen Science
DESCRIPTION:**REGISTER NOW for this free workshop!! \n  \nBecome the eyes and ears for nature and learn how to explore and contribute to Australia’s living database as a Citizen Scientist and increase your knowledge about what lives in your patch at he same time! \nDuring this hands-on workshop\, ecologist and Landcare Coordinator\, Graham Tupper\, will introduce us to a number of citizen science apps and websites which can help everyone\, from beginners to experienced observers\, record and identify a range of living things – both plant and animal.  Discover how using these tools to record observations on your Landcare site can help build a picture of how your group’s efforts are contributing to habitat restoration and ecosystem health over time. \nWe’ll also learn how to take great photos\, with simple cameras or smart phones\, to show off our subjects to their best effect! \nWhen you register for the event\, prior to the workshop you’ll be sent some notes to help you start exploring a couple of Citizen Science websites and their associated apps\, so you’re ready to go on the day. For those interested in taking their journey a step further\, this workshop will also help get you prepared to assist with upcoming national events on the Citizen Science calendar\, including: \n– Aussie bird count: 16-22 October 2023 \n– Frog ID week: 3 -12 November 2023; and \n– The Great Southern Bioblitz: 24 – 27 November 2023 \nParticipating in these events means we can all contribute to enriching our understanding of Australia’s glorious biodiversity and how to best to protect it for the future. \nPlease wear appropriate clothing for this outdoor workshop\, as we’ll be walking through the bush\, and don’t forget to bring your charged phone/camera! \n  \nLight refreshments will be provided. \n
