Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare (CHRL) is pleased to be delivering the Walking Together: North Coast Aboriginal Partnerships & Cultural Capability Program through the NSW Government’s Landcare Enabling Program Aboriginal Partnerships Grant.

This project aims to strengthen relationships between CHRL, local Landcare volunteers and Gumbaynggirr people through culturally grounded, two-way learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities. Guided by Gumbaynggirr Elders, Knowledge Holders and community representatives, the program will help build cultural understanding, foster meaningful partnerships, and support collaborative approaches to caring for Country.

The project will feature three on-Country gatherings focused on Water Lore, Fire Lore, and Plant Lore, providing opportunities for Landcare volunteers and the broader community to learn about Gumbaynggirr cultural knowledge, environmental stewardship, and the deep connections between people and Country. Through shared learning and yarning circles, participants will explore common goals, strengthen relationships, and identify opportunities for future collaboration.

The program will culminate in a stakeholder forum that brings together Aboriginal community members, Landcare, government agencies and environmental organisations to explore pathways for future partnerships, projects and investment.

By supporting cultural learning, Aboriginal leadership, and stronger community connections, the project will help create a more culturally capable, inclusive and partnership-driven Landcare network across the region.

This initiative has been supported by the NSW Government through the Landcare Enabling Program Phase 3 Aboriginal Partnerships Grant Program and delivered regionally by North Coast Regional Landcare Network.
