Our Annual Awards Day was held on Sunday 9th September. Our 20 Year Anniversary of being an incorporated organisation was also celebrated on the day. The Awards day was held at Karangi Public School and included a tour of the Karangi Landcare site.
Park Beach Dunecare
The Dee Wallace Perpetual Award for Excellence by a Landcare Group recognises a volunteer group for it’s contribution to Landcare and to rehabilitating the environment. This award was won by Park Beach Dunecare who have been looking after a large strip of coastal vegetation between the Surf Club and the Hoey Moey for many years.
The Eileen Moody Memorial Award acknowledges and celebrates the outstanding efforts of individual local Landcare volunteers. This year the award was given to Barry Powells who is the current president of CHRL and convener of the Sawtell Landcare Group in recognition of his long term commitment to the management of CHRL.
As part of our 20 year celebration we also acknowledged two of our long term members, Ron Smith and John Ross by granting them life time membership to CHRL. Charlie England was also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation.
