The Native Plant and Bird Survey workshop was held on the 9th of October.

The workshop focused on participants trying out the iNaturalist phone app in the field to identify native plants – starting with some easier to identify common headland flowers then trying out the app on some leaves like three veined laurel and then a range of heathland wildflowers. Breaking into two smaller groups, and with the help of some local expert birdwatchers, we also trialled how to do a 20-minute 2ha bird survey using the standard Birdlife Australia method and Birdata app. Participants left with more confidence in how to use this powerful iNaturalist and bird survey tools to get to know their patch better. The workshop generated a lot of interest, so we ran a second workshop on the 20th of October. Thank you to Graham Tupper for presenting the workshop and sharing his endless knowledge with our members.
