Roger Jennings was an incredible member of both the National Parks and Landcare communities, a man whose quiet strength, generosity, and commitment to the natural environment left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

For close to 20 years Roger dedicated himself to caring for the Mullawarra Dunecare site within Coffs Coast Regional Park. His pride in the area, his attention to detail, and his unwavering commitment set the standard for what it means to truly care for a place. Every plant he tended, every weed he removed, and every hour Roger spent on site reflected his deep respect for the coast he loved.

Roger wasn’t just a volunteer, he was a leader, a mentor and a friend to all. He inspired those around him through his calm presence, humour, and quiet determination to keep showing up, year after year, with the same care and purpose he’d always had.

Even through challenges with his health, Roger’s focus remained on the land and the people who shared his passion for protecting and nurturing it. Across the region, his legacy continues through the thriving site of Mullawarra and with the many volunteers who had the privilege of working alongside him. Roger’s decades of dedication to National Parks and Wildlife Service and Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare reflect a life defined by service, humility, and purpose.

Roger will be deeply missed. From all of us here at National Parks and Landcare, we are profoundly grateful for the years Roger gave, the leadership he demonstrated, and the passion he brought to everything he did.

Roger’s contribution will always be remembered along the Coffs Coast.
