In partnership with Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance (JBA), Coffs Harbour Regional Landcare (CHRL) is working closely with two private landowners in the Orara Valley to restore endangered Lowland Rainforest as part of JBA’s Rainforest Rescue and Recovery project.

This project will see on-ground management of weeds such as lantana which are a threat to Lowland Rainforest, an Endangered Ecological Community (EEC) found in our local area. Some strategic planting of native trees and shrubs will also help to rehabilitate the Lowland Rainforest community.

These actions will improve the health and resilience of Lowland Rainforest remnants, as well as strengthen landscape connectivity, by supporting habitat corridors that are essential for the migration, colonisation, and interbreeding of native plant and animal species.

This work is a critical part in safeguarding the remaining Lowland Rainforest in our region and providing landowners with the support they need to protect these important remnants ensuring their survival for generations to come.

This project is delivered in partnership with Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance with funding through the City of Coffs Harbour’s Environmental Levy Grants Program.
