Fears of ‘weed highways’ as floods and extreme weather cause greater spread of invasive seeds, buds and roots, while weed spraying is interrupted by rain and wind.
Fire weed, Chilean needle grass, parthenium and sticky nightshade are amongst the many 398 invasive plants Australia-wide, of which 32 are considered weeds of “national significance”.

Recently, Coffs Harbour Landcare, in partnership with North Coast Regional Landcare and North Coast Local Land Services have released the updated 4th Edition of Weeds of the North Coast of NSW. Included are new weed profiles, priority listings and easy to scan QR codes linking to weed control methods and videos, NSW Weedwise weed profiles and the WeedWise App.
Free copies are currently available for pick up at our Coffs Harbour Office, North Coast Local Land Services, City of Coffs Harbour, Clarence Valley and Rous Councils. An online PDF version will also be made available in the coming weeks.
