Australian Wildlife Conservancy

New flat pack pods made from cardboard are providing protection for native animals that lose their natural homes in bushfires.

The pods are cheap, light, biodegradable and take only about five minutes to press out and assemble.

If the pods are popular with the creatures of North Head, they might soon be a familiar sight in other areas ravaged by bushfires or blackened by hazard reduction burns.
