The nest boxes were generously constructed and donated after the fires and were installed in April 2020 to provide homes for local fauna. A regional scale nest box monitoring program across the North Coast Landcare network aims to provide important information on wildlife use of nest boxes and their effectiveness in providing essential habitat after devastating bushfires.

Bushfire Nestbox Recovery Program

This Program enabled us to visit these nest boxes in Nana Glen in November/ December last year with more monitoring to be carried out this month. It was very exciting to see that some of the boxes were being used! The monitoring program is a Landcare Led Bushfire Recovery project that has been supported by the Australian Government’s Bushfire Recovery Program for Wildlife and their Habitat.
