Improving Land Management Practices in the Coffs Harbour LGA

We have gained a number of Expressions of Interest (EOI’s) from landholders in the Coffs LGA looking for advice and assistance to manage their properties. The majority of these properties are small lifestyle or non-commercial properties of land use between 2-20Ha.

We have been conducting property visits and providing educational information and general property management advice to assist to improve future land management activities.

The EOI is still open, if you, or anyone you know with a small rural property that would be interested in participating in the project, or in similar projects in the future.

Landcare’s Weed Book Updated

Landcare’s original Weeds of the North Coast has been updated. The resource was developed by the late Pia Dollmann. Since its development, the legislation regarding weed management has changed to the Biosecurity Act. It was important to update the legislation so the resource is still relevant. Four new weed profiles have also been added to the latest edition.

Hard copies are available in the office. Digital copies are available online.

The update of the resource was made possible with funding from Landcare Australia’s Landcare Led Bushfire Recovery Grants.

Fire & Weeds Workshop

Landcare Australia’s Landcare Led Bushfire Recovery project also included a Fire & Weeds workshop which was held on Saturday 12th of February at the Nana Glen Community Hall. Colin Howett from the RFS presented on fire preparedness, APZ’s, local resources and how to be better prepared for future fire events. Andy Hughes, from Coffs Harbour City Council’s Coastal Works presented on weeds they commonly see germinated post fire along with priority weeds in the Coffs Harbour LGA. They had a number of weed samples present on the day.
