National Threatened Species Day is commemorated across the country on  September 7th to raise awareness of plants and animals at risk of extinction.

With Australia being home to more than 500,000 animal and plant species, many of which are endemic to Australia, it’s important to raise awaremeness of the almost 1000 native plants, animals, and ecosystems that are under threat of extinction. National Threatened Species Day is an  opportunity to reflect on how we can protect them now and into the future.

With many of us in lockdown, Threatened Species Day looks a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to safely get involved and take action.
