Conservation and land management jobs can stimulate economy, restore landscapes and support regional communities.

Released in March 2021, the Working with Nature report  outlines how thousands of workers can be employed to deliver practical conservation and land management work across the country .  The report is based on an economic recovery proposal supported by over 100 conservation, farming and land management organisations, including Landcare NSW. The report advocates for thousands of workers to be employed to deliver practical conservation and land management work , providing economic support to regional communities while leaving lasting benefits for the environment, tourism, farm businesses and local communities.

Letter from Adrian Zammitt, CEO Landcare NSW

Dear Landcarers

Landcare NSW has added our communities’ voices to a 100-strong coalition of land management organisations, calling for Federal Government investment in a land management and environmental stimulus package, post-COVID19. We have been making this case for several months; many of you have written letters and talked to Federal Members to seek their support. The Pew Charitable Trusts have led the campaign and done an extraordinary job with the assistance of the National Landcare Network.

Last week they released a new reportwebsite and press release to keep this issue on the agenda. See the link here: Working With Nature

Can you please share this information in your communities and through all your communications platforms? It’s critical that grassroots Landcarers make their voices heard.

Expenditure is approved by the Expenditure Review Committee: Scott Morrison, Josh Frydenberg, Michael McCormack, Matthias Corman and Greg Hunt. You might wish to ask your local Federal Member to make representations to these key decision makers. If you are in the electorates of Sussan Ley, Scott Morrison or Michael McCormack, it’s even more important they hear from their local Landcare community.

Our goal is to send a positive message that Landcare wants to be part of the solution to help create jobs, and stimulate the economy while helping farmers, the environment and local communities.

Thank you for your support. I would appreciate you keeping us up to do date with your efforts and any responses or feedback you may have.
