This City of Coffs Council Environmental Levy funded project is now in it’s 8th year of annual funding. The project allows CHRL to employ a Nursery Coordinator to support our volunteers and ensure the smooth running of our Community Nursery at Woolgoolga so it continues to be a successful community facility. The Community Nursery is open to the public two mornings a week from 9am-12pm and provides local native seedlings and advice to our Landcare sites, other local revegetation projects and the wider community. The nursery was busy last year, propagating over 9000 local native plant species for local native vegetation restoration projects.
Our Community Nursery will also be receiving funding through the local provenance plant community-based nursery component of the Foundations for National Parks & Wildlife Landscape Resilience program. This Program was initially set up in response to the Black Summer fires of 2019-2020, aimed at bushfire recovery, however FPNW is now focusing on the greater need to improve broader landscape resilience to address all kinds of extreme weather events. The funding will help subsidise some of the costs that are involved with the production of plants at our nursery.
