In 2017-19, Coffs Regional Landcare contracted a consultant to undertake 4 bird surveys at 15 sites in South Moonee Forest (SMF) and at Green Bluff (GB), Moonee Beach. They also provided training in bird species ID and surveying skills for local volunteers, formed a project survey team for interested group members, and helped deliver a broader community workshop on the project.  The project was funded by an Environmental Trust R&R Program grant and included a solid revegetation/bush regen component through Lindy Davis and her team.

The final 2019 bird survey report (173 pp.) provides important resource information on the birds of the area and their habitat. It includes important conservation management recommendations, several of which the CHRL bush regen team have been working on, so effectively.
